By combining the Riga City Nature Museum and the Museum of Schools, the Nature Museum of the Latvian SSR is established.

The museum’s structure is based upon the divisions created by the Riga Naturalist Society.
In January 1951 the museum is moved to the premises of the Ministry of Education located in the Museum of Schools at K. Barona iela 4.
