This summer the phlox exhibition tradition at the Latvian National Museum of Natural History will be continued as our visitors were particularly fond of it last year. The exhibition "Phlox 2024" will be open for four days, July 18–21, and will feature around 100 phlox varieties.

The exhibition is curated by phlox collector and cultivator Tatjana Kočāne from Rugāji. In her garden in Latgale region many flowers and other plants are growing, including around 200 phlox varieties. Around 20 of those are cultivated by her and will be exhibited.

Tatjana Kočāne is experienced cultivator. She started to collect seeds when her garden collection had approximately 100 various phloxes. The key for successful pollination is close proximity between varieties as they are more accessible to pollinators. For example, during summer evenings the bedstraw hawk-moth Hyles gallii can be often observed.

During the exhibition, the visitors will be advised on phlox varieties, cultivation and how to choose the best variety for your garden.

The exhibition opens on Thursday, July 18 at 12.00 in the exhibition hall on the 2nd floor.
